What if it rains or the weather is bad?

Modified on Fri, 31 Oct at 1:31 PM

Moonlight Cinema is an outdoor event, and we aim to go ahead in most weather conditions - including light, patchy, intermittent or forecast rain. We recommend dressing warmly and bringing wet weather gear like ponchos or raincoats. Umbrellas are not permitted during screenings as they obstruct the view of others.

If weather conditions are unsafe or impact the operation of the event, a screening may be cancelled. This decision is made by the Venue Manager on site and can be made any time up to - or during - the screening, depending on conditions at the venue.

We always aim to give guests as much notice as possible in the event of a cancellation, but the weather can change quickly, and some decisions may need to be made at short notice. Guests will be notified accordingly as soon as a cancellation is confirmed.

Screenings may be cancelled due to:

  • Severe weather that poses a safety risk to patrons or staff (e.g. torrential rain, high winds or extreme heat in during the manual site set-up or during the screening)
  • Turf conditions being too wet to operate safely
  • High wind speeds affecting screen or site setup

If a session is cancelled, ticket holders will receive an SMS and email notification to the details that were entered upon booking with details on how to rebook into another session during the same season. If you don’t receive a notification, please assume your session is going ahead.
