What is the Adverse Weather Policy?

What happens if it rains or gets cold?


Nobody likes rain on their parade! But as an outdoor event, Moonlight Cinema is subject to the elements and will go ahead in most weather conditions, including light, intermittent or potential rain. A cancellation will only be considered if the conditions present a danger to patrons or staff.


Patrons accept the risk that weather they consider unsatisfactory may occur on a screening night and acknowledge that tickets for sessions before the last month of the season for the Moonlight Cinema venue in their city are non-refundable. If a session before the last month of the season is cancelled, your tickets will be transferable for another night in the current season. If your session is cancelled in the last month of the season, your tickets will automatically be refunded within 48 hours.


We encourage you to pack smart and bring something to keep warm and dry, just in case. The temperature can drop at night, especially in parkland. Ponchos, blankets and plastic picnic rugs are always a good option.


How and when will I find out about a cancellation?

Don’t worry, we’ve got your back. The Venue Manager will be monitoring ground conditions, and checking the weather radar (please bear in mind that conditions on site may differ to what you are experiencing at home). We try to cancel as early as possible, but the decision is rarely made before 4:30pm. Since the weather can turn unexpectedly, cancellations may need to occur at any time up to or during the screening.


In the rare event that a session is cancelled, ticket holders will receive an SMS and an EMAIL and we will update the movie listing on our WEBSITE. In addition, SIGNAGE will be erected on site at the Moonlight Cinema venue. Please assume the session is going ahead, unless you receive the official notification. If you decide not to attend without receiving notice, your tickets will be forfeited.


My session was cancelled

What a shame! But don’t worry, you can use your tickets again for another session in the current season.


SWAP TICKETS 


If you purchased your ticket online: You are now able to re-book online in advance of the new session you wish to attend. Please Click Here and follow the prompts. Please note you will need to have your booking reference code handy. This is located on the confirmation page when you make your booking, or on the receipt page of your Print-At-Home tickets. It is the 7-digit code beginning with ‘W’, NOT the individual ticket code. PLEASE NOTE: If you’re having trouble swapping your tickets online, you may either Contact Us or take your original tickets straight to the Box Office at the Moonlight Cinema venue to be swapped on arrival at your next session.


If you purchased at the Box Office: Simply bring your tickets to the new session that you wish to attend. You can take the original ticket straight to the gate scanners – this way you avoid queuing at the Box Office. Check the program page for sold out sessions.


We understand it can be hard to rebook towards the end of the season. Never fear, if your session is cancelled in the last month of the 2024/2025 summer season due to adverse weather conditions, your booking will automatically be refunded within 48 hours. If you would like to attend again, you can simply purchase new tickets to your desired session.
